Melancholy Baby

I'm feeling very melancholy today. I took my oldest daughter to the airport at 5 a.m. to move to New York to be a nanny for a year. It's funny how we spend their entire lives grooming them for just this moment, and when it happens we're still not ready. My little hot ham and cheese is so independent, smart, funny, loving, and every other good thing a person can be and I'm so incredibly proud of her, but before all of that she was my sweet baby girl. I've been thinking about her all day...the day she was born with her full head of black curls...all the "first days" (nursery, preschool, kindergarten, jr. high, high school, and even college)...all the special moments I've been there for! She's truly been one of my best friends since she was just little, and I can't believe how much I'm going to miss her! I guess, I've done my job. I've raised a beautiful woman who's ready to face the world. I love you sweet baby girl!!

  1. What a sweet post. I was getting wet eyes. I hope your kids know what a great mom you are.
